The Organisation

The Innovative Bio Fiber Corporation AG, in short IBF AG, is specialized on the production and conditioning of plant fibers for technical applications. Our activities are, in principle the same as those of a traditional raw material supplier, i.e. production of raw material, refining of raw material and supplying customers defined qualities. In contrast to the worldwide mining of continuously diminishing resources, IBF produces its plant starting material from quickly growing fiber plants such as kenaf, jute, sisal, hemp and ramie continuously anew. In cooperation with its partners in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America we have developed and put into practice concepts in such a way that today a complete supply management can be offered.

The ever increasing cost for disposal, the legal restrictions to take back empty containers and the more and more developed concerns of the consumer for these problems increase the request for eco friendly materials. In most of the R & D departments of large companies in the car-, the building- material- , the furniture- and the plastic industries, development engineers work with high priority on the integration of natural fibers in future materials and product generations. IBF fiber products are already used in inner linings and isolation products of cars. Despite considerable use of plant fibers in the car- and insulation-industry, very many potential uses are not yet tapped. This is the reason why IBF not only provides the necessary raw material in the best possible quality but engages actively in the development and realization of new production technologies. The realization of innovative products on a basis of mutual trust and cooperation and the successful positioning of the new articles in the market safeguard the entrepreneurial success of IBF AG and its customers as well.

IBF fiber raw material grows worldwide in carefully selected growing regions. The technical production of industry fibers from annual plants does not only start at the fiber conditioning but already in the field. The preferred use of locally adapted plant varieties, the adherence to proven crop rotations, the renouncement of chemical plant protection are fundamental principles of IBF’s concept. Optimal motivation of the local partners is also ensured by paying comparably high prices in foreign exchange at the site of production, which in turn results in positive effects on the fiber quality as well as a high supply safety.
The supply and logistics system of IBF is another important point and guarantees an continuous provision of raw material in a high quality to the user industry. According to this system a customer is supplied preferably with fibers from a particular growing region, thus minimizing the variable production factors such as climate soil and seed variety and therefore reduce the variation of the fiber quality to a minimum. In addition the growing regions of IBF fiber plants are spread over several countries and continents in order to reduce effects of unforseeable events (political unrest, natural catastrophes) and thereby guaranteeing a regular supply situation.
